Painted in 1975 by Stuart Walton, a Leeds-born artist, The Conversation captures so well a little-known role reversal of human conversation.
Most Deaf people would be feeling left out of any conversation carried out by three ‘hearing’ men on a bench but in this picture, all the men are Deaf and the man left out of the conversation is a hearing person.
Donated to the BDHS by the British Deaf Association.
