Organised tours of the Deaf Museum have proved popular since we reopened in October last year, with a large number of groups including school groups visiting the museum. The BDHS Spring workshop held on 21 May was also very well attended.
Altogether, there were 186 people including children visiting the Museum between January and June including a coach party from Nottingham, who had lunch in the Deaf Centre’s Riley’s Bar, and overseas visitors from Belgium.
However, we are usually open on Mondays and sometimes another day during the week. If anyone or any group wishes to visit the Museum on a different day to the Saturdays listed above, please contact maureenj@bdhs.org.uk to arrange a visit. We can also arrange for a large group visiting during the week to have lunch at the adjoining Deaf Centre’s Riley’s Bar.
Note: The BDHS does not charge for access to its Museum, Archives and Library but as an organisation relying mainly on charitable donations, we would deeply appreciate visitors placing a donation in the Donation Box situated within the Museum Library. These donations help us to build up an Acquisitions Fund that is used to purchased new artefacts to preserve and display.
