The main activities of the BDHS are to organise workshops, conferences and seminars that help to preserve and promote Deaf History. The last workshop held was on 21 February 2026 at Medway Deaf Centre, Gillingham which attracted an attendance of 90 people.
The next workshop will be held on 26 September 2026. The venue will be Reading Deaf Centre, 131-133 Cardiff Road, Reading RG1 8JF.
The BDHS also attends Deaf-related events and exhibitions such as Deaf Day at the City Lit, London and at Deaffest in the University of Wolverhampton. We will be attending this year’s Deaf Day on 11 April 2026 and Deaffest on 9 May 2026.
Our BDHS General Meeting is usually held every year in either October or November. The last one was held on 25 October 2025 at Manchester Deaf Centre. The 2026 AGM will be held on 7 November 2026 in London (venue to be announced.)
