The British Deaf History Society organises and runs a diverse number of activities linked with Deaf Heritage. These activities take place either in the BDHS space in Manchester, or in external premises where Deaf-related events are being held.

Art and other special exhibitions have been held in the museum space

The BDHS has been responsible for the placement of plaques in key locations throughout the country

BDHS Volunteers regularly attend Deaf-related events like Deaf Day in London

Lectures and workshops are regularly held in different parts of the country

Children’s activities and school visits are arranged where requested. These provide a valuable learning experience for young people about Deaf heritage.

The Research library and Archives are well-used by various students and researchers, including film companies.

The BDHS works in partnership with organisations such as the British Deaf Association and People’s History Museum

We have regular visits from University groups and Deaf Studies classes.
