Four watercolour paintings in the DMAG are by James Brindle, one of Preston’s best known artists. Brindle was born in Preston in 1893 and was deaf from birth and was educated at the Royal Cross Deaf and Dumb School in Preston. He initially worked in a cotton mill before becoming a landscape and marine painter.
The four paintings were donated to the DMAG by Anthony Boyce.
