Our late President, Arthur F. Dimmock, was best friends with the Deaf painter, Alfred Reginald Thomson, R.A. (1894-1979). One day, on a visit near Christmas, Thomson’s wife reminded him to get Dimmock’s Christmas present. Thomson absented himself from the room for nearly an hour and when he returned, a painting titled Flowers was presented as a Xmas present. Dimmock wasn’t happy because the painting hadn’t been signed, so with a sigh, Thomson took it back and returned within five minutes with his signature on the painting!
The painting was purchased by the BDHS from Dimmock’s daughter, Mrs. Cassandra Turk, after his death.
